Is The Car Industry Struggling?
The question we’ve been pondering, is the car industry struggling? It’s high time to have a look at why this may be..
Struggle in Demand?
New car registrations are really slumping. As you may have seen, diesel is down 27% from 50,000 in November 2018 to 36,000 in November 2019. This is probably due to uncertainty with emissions targets, as well as all the different clean air zones popping up all over the UK. On the flip side, electric and hybrid vehicles are on the rise! Battery electric vehicles have increased 288% and hold a 3% market share in November 2019, that’s up 2.1% from the previous year!
Emissions Leading to a Struggle?
With the looming net-zero and low emission targets that are coming, it’s no wonder there’s a diesel decline. To reach these targets, clean air zones and ultra-low emission zones are being put in place. However, the fees, charges and fines that may come with these zones are also sure to throw some drivers off.
Political Struggles?
As time goes on, we’re seeing more and more manufacturers closing plants and cutting jobs. Whilst these factories are being closed to hit the emissions targets, other plants are suspending production of models due to, you guessed it, Brexit.

How Can We Prevent the Car Industry Struggle?
To tackle the lurking emissions, more people should go electric! Of course, we realise this can be expensive, but by mid-2020 the cost should level out to match traditional petrol and diesel car costs! When the cost of EVs level the cost of petrol cars, they should be so much more widely adopted! But we say why wait? We can get you great savings on electric cars through salary sacrifice, check it out here! Here’s the link to the website, see for yourself how you can save with your new electric car!
