Fleet Evolution: “COP26 Agreements Don’t Go Far Enough!”

After countries across the globe signed agreements to commit to encouraging the uptake of electric vehicles at COP26, Fleet Evolution, a provider of flexible employee car schemes, suggests that these arrangements don’t go far enough to keep up with the growing demand for electric vehicles.

During COP26, a number of countries, regional governments, manufacturers and financial institutions signed a pledge to move to 100% zero-emission sales of new cars and vans by 2040. Despite the awareness and commitment to electric vehicles growing, many countries will not have the infrastructure required to make these agreements a reality, claims Fleet Evolution.

The UK currently has around 26,000 electric vehicle charging points to cater for over 400,000 drivers, and despite promising an additional 10,000 charging points over the next two years, this may not be enough to deal with the surge in electric car sales, which grew by 43% globally in 2020 alone.

Despite the work needed by the governments, Fleet Evolution have taken it upon themselves to help achieve global zero-emissions goals by becoming a leading provider of electric car salary sacrifice schemes, making electric vehicles more accessible and affordable for everyone.

With Fleet Evolution’s salary sacrifice schemes, customers choose to give up a small portion of their salary for a fully maintained electric car. Participants of the scheme benefit from having a company vehicle at a fraction of the price, with all additional costs—excluding charging—covered.

Andrew Leech, Founder and Managing Director of Fleet Evolution, says:

“I’m glad that global governments are setting serious zero-emissions goals and encouraging more people to get electric vehicles; Even if notable countries like the USA, China and Germany aren’t included in these agreements. There’s lots more to be done. We hope that by providing an affordable and efficient salary sacrifice scheme, we can help achieve the UK’s goals and get more EV’s on the road.”
