Genesis GV60: In This Land of Confusion, Could This Be the EV For You?

The Genesis GV60, heard of it? It conjures up a certain emotion in people of my age. Just so everyone’s on the same page, the Genesis is the premium brand for Hyundai, similar to how Polestar is to Volvo – almost.

Premium and Hyundai in the Same Sentence?

For the ‘Invisible Touch’ generation that may sound odd, but things have really moved on recently. In the EV world, Hyundai is a premium manufacturer; they possess the build quality that Tesla can only dream of and the range that BMW aspires to have.

The Genesis GV60 Is Built on The Same Platform as The Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the Kia EV6.

The IONIQ 5 is THE most comfortable experience you can get; a sofa on wheels, which could be good and bad, depends on your view, really. On the other hand, the Kia EV6 has much more sporty looks, but not the sportiest performance by EV standards. From this, you would expect the Genesis GV60 to give lots of space and lots of range. Lucky for you, you won’t be disappointed.

However, this is decidedly quirky for performance enthusiasts. The 4-wheel drive has sub-4 second 0-60 performance! It even has a boost mode to make it proper ASBO. The sedate IONIQ would shout “you’re no son of mine!” and yes, the GV60 is definitely a step up from ‘Mama’! Boost mode gives another 20HP and you can even select Drift mode for more fun! I’ve not tested this one yet, but it sounds interesting.

The GV60 Offers a Premium Sporty Option.

For those who like Tesla’s speed and charging speed but not the build quality, this might be one for you! The cabin is a delight, from the dual-screen to the crystal dial that looks suspiciously like something from the Crystal Maze…

It really looks like a unique proposition from a brand, I would say, not well known for design. Well, this is based on the IONIIQ 5, which is probably the most attractive car of 2021. At around £600/month NET through Salary Sacrifice, it’s well worth a look! You’ll be eager to ‘Turn it on Again’!
