Scenic Springtime Drives for Electric Cars in the UK

Now that driving in ice and rain has mostly come to an end, you’ll want to get onto the open road and blow away those winter weather cobwebs with some incredible scenic springtime drives.

Here are a few of our favourite electric car routes that really make the most of the season, so grab your keyless key and get ready to embrace the wonderful scenery and lush new greenery that awaits! Lockdown has lifted (slightly), it’s time to enjoy the great outdoors!

Cute Cotswolds

With rolling greenery dotted with quaint stone cottages, you’re sure to love the Cotswolds. The B4425 that starts just outside Cirencester looks like just another country road but slowly, its own unique charm begins to appear as you journey on further through the hills and tiny villages.

With several EV charge points dotted along the route that eventually leads to Gloucester, this is a great family drive for nature lovers and those who dream of idyllic country living.

Get back to nature

Spring isn’t just a wonderful time of year because of the array of colours that appear after a dull and dreary last few months – plenty is going on in the animal kingdom too! If you’re a lover of woodland creatures and birds, then a slow country drive through the awe-inspiring Forest of Dean could be the spring scenic route you’ve been searching for.

With up to 40 square miles of woodland to explore it can be difficult to choose a route, but we really enjoyed the drive on the B4226 as it offered glimpses of towering firs and tall birches thanks to its elevation drops and rises. It makes for a fun but not overly challenging weekend drive.

The Cheshire Countryside

If you live somewhere around the middle of the UK and don’t want to head too far from home to take in some of that fresh spring air, program your sat nav for the tree-lined A535 from Alderley Edge.

You’ll pass impressive sprawling homes that any wag would be proud to call their own and enjoy the peaks and troughs where the route affords better vistas over the Cheshire countryside. You can enjoy this drive safe in the knowledge that there are plenty of EV charge points located nearby.

The West Pennine Moors

If dramatic landscapes are more to your taste, gather the family for a Sunday drive on the A675 old Bolton to Preston route as it certainly won’t disappoint!

With gentle changes in elevation giving way to spectacular views, see if you can spot any wildlife as they begin to emerge on the rugged yet beautiful landscape.
