Why Benefits are Important to Staff

Why benefits are important to staff is simple really. Employee benefits can be convenient and comforting to have. Employers offering benefits will make the employee feel valued. Consequently, they’re more likely to take their job more seriously. 36% of employees say that improving their benefits package will make them less likely to leave their job. Furthermore, they’re also more likely to remain loyal to their employer with benefits packages provided, as say 60% of employees. Here are some staff benefits that could be introduced into your workplace…

Flexibility

A lack of flexibility at work can put a LOT of stress on employees, especially those with other commitments. Flexibility in the workplace allows staff to easily have other commitments, such as family duties and studies. Furthermore, 49% of employees say that flexibility shows that their employer cares about them and their other obligations. This will put the employee at ease whilst resulting in greater productivity.

Vacation Time / Personal Time Off

Stress levels were found to be higher among employees who do not get personal time off (PTO).

The most desirable PTO benefits are paid holidays, sick leave, and paid vacation days. Moreover, 56% of employees say some/additional personal time off in their benefits package will increase their loyalty to their organisation. Employers could also offer paid family leave, for those with families, increasing employee loyalty even further.

Moreso, employers should encourage added flexibility and more vacation time in order for employees to not feel overworked. 43% of workers report they are often or always stressed. What’s more, one-third of these employees said the stress they experience at work is detrimental to their health

Health Plans

Having the benefit of a health plan will increase employee attendance. 60% of employees said health coverage is extremely important in whether they stay in their job. This makes a health plan that much more important as staff will be reliable. A further 68% of employees say having health plans raise their morale and job satisfaction.

With a health plan, employees experience peace of mind, which can also help to reduce their stress. When people are covered, they’re more likely to treat health issues in the early stages. This saves time, money, and ultimately, stress.

Retirement Plans

Employers could offer retirement plans for all staff, so the staff feel more secure in their future. 66% of workers would like more help from employers in reaching their retirement goals. As a consequence of little help, 36% say they’re only a little bit or not at all prepared for retirement. After receiving help, employees will grow more loyal to their job and employer, as again, it shows they care.

Staff will respect and appreciate their employers more if they aid with their finances.

Salary Sacrifice Car Schemes

Another OBVIOUS employee benefit is exploring the world of salary sacrifice cars!

Salary sacrifice is a great way for employees to grab a company car whilst maximising their savings. It allows the employee the convenience of having a car for a very reasonable price. These schemes work through employees sacrificing a portion of their gross salary for a fully maintained car. Find out more about salary sacrifice and how easy it is for you to install a scheme!

Other Staff Benefits Can Include:

  • Office sports teams
  • Annual leave on birthday
  • Discounts for shops, holidays, cinemas
  • Free hot drinks

All these benefits will lessen employee stress and allow them to sit comfortably in their role.
