Where Can I Find Fuel? – Why The Fuel Crisis Is a Wakeup Call

Anyone like me watching GMTV Friday morning would have seen this all coming. What started as half a dozen petrol stations being closed has quickly led to mad treks for drivers. Drivers who are using their previous fuel to find precious fuel, makes sense doesn’t it? So now, everyone seems to be asking, “where can I find fuel?”.

Seeing all the carnage on social media and the news, shoutout to Phil McCann, it all seems so hopeless. What can you do to keep yourself mobile, though?

This Has Been on The Cards for Some Time

Just for now, forget that the ‘shortage’ is down to drivers. Let’s also forget that the issue is only getting worse; with deliveries unable to go ahead as the drivers can’t get fuel themselves to deliver more fuel for everyone else.

The fact is, fuel has been running out since we first started drawing it up from way beneath the ground. It’s just a shortage today, but time’s a-ticking for fuel. It’s “where can I find fuel?” today, but what are we going to do when we reach the point of no return?

Before The Petrol Crisis, We Were Finally Shouting About the Climate Emergency

It seems ironic that this has been replaced in our thoughts by the quest to consume fossil fuels. To find more fossil fuels. Distributed by vehicles running on fossil fuels. In order to run our cars on fossil fuels. Are we sensing a theme here?

If Only There Was a Better Way to ‘Fuel’ your Vehicle…

Obviously, we’re going to talk about electric cars. Come on, you should know by now. I, Andy, have an electric car. I have all the charging infrastructure I could ever need right outside my front door. While I’m sleeping soundly, my car refills 200 miles for just a fiver. That’s way better than fuel prices, especially now! My electricity is from a supplier who sources over 90% of their electricity via renewables. That same electricity is delivered through the same cables that power my coffee machine and toaster.

This Weekend May Have Been a Crisis of Stupidity, But the Real Crisis Is Looming.

There are a few crises coming, climate change and petrol shortages are amongst them. Electric cars are not the perfect solution just yet. Councils need to get on top of roadside charging, new homes need to have EV charge points installed, and if you do some convincing, we might be able to get you a hand with your charging!
