Fisker Ocean: The Mission to Become Top Dog… or Top Shark?

Fisker’s mission is to become the most sustainable EV on the market, and we’re all aboard for that, but how are they performing on the electric car front? Let’s dive into the Fisker Ocean family. Well, the new Fisker EVs will be produced in Magna Steyr, a carbon-neutral plant in Austria, where other luxury vehicles are made, including the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and the Jaguar I-PACE.

They will produce the Fisker Ocean family, which is a range of all-electric SUVs, ranging in price and performance to suit many budgets and needs. Fisker plans to have 42,400 Ocean units built by the end of 2023, but when will we see them on the road? They’re available to order in April 2023 but they’re projected to arrive anywhere between August to December 2023 depending on the model. Speaking of models, there are 4 on this electric product line (all with different roofs!) let’s get straight into it.

Fisker Ocean One

“The exclusive, launch-edition Fisker Ocean One will be the first-ever vehicle launched by Fisker.”

The exclusive launch-edition Fisker Ocean One truly is exclusive, with Fisker only manufacturing 5,000 vehicles and stating it’s “currently unavailable” to order on their website. It sports a reported 391 miles range and a 0-62mph of just 3.9 seconds, giving Tesla a run for its money; but this does have me wondering, is the new norm for EVs a super fast 0-60? One to think about…

The Ocean One also has a top speed of 124mph and a price tag of £59,900. You can expect to see the Fisker Ocean One hit the roads in August 2023, with its snazzy SolarSky roof.

Fisker Ocean Extreme

“Extreme luxury. Extreme performance. Extreme thrills.”

Funnily enough, the Ocean Extreme is essentially the same as the Ocean One, with all the same spec, even the price tag (and the roof!). So, if you were sad to find you can’t order the Ocean One, it’s a pretty good backup option.

Fisker Ocean Sport

“A striking balance of performance, range, and affordability.”

Don’t let the name fool you, the Fisker Ocean Sport is actually the most affordable of the bunch, with a price tag of £34,990. Not the most affordable to buy outright, but something tells me this is going to be a bit of a steal on salary sacrifice

The Ocean Sport chants an impressive 273 miles range with a Touring Range battery and Single Motor FWD powertrain; interesting to note, as the rest of the Ocean family have Hyper Range batteries with Dual Motor AWD powertrain.

It also has a top speed of 99mph, which is becoming standard for the everyday electric car, with a 0-62mph of 7.4 seconds. You can expect to see the Ocean Sport from December 2023.

Fisker Ocean Ultra

“Dynamic, powerful, ready for open-air adventure.”

The Fisker Ocean Ultra fits between the Extreme and the Sport, with a price tag of £48,900 and an expected range of 379 miles. The Ultra also boats a 0-62mph of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 124mph. There’s just one catch… it’s currently unavailable. Fisker loves to tease, don’t they? According to EV Database, this should be available to order from April, same as the other models, and it’s expected to be on the roads in December 2023. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled! Oh, and it also has an OpenSky Roof.

Extra Goodies

Fisker offers a pretty nice 6-year warranty, beating out Hyundai’s 5-years but not quite besting Kia’s 7-year warranty.

You can also use Fisker’s configurator on their website to work out your exact spec for the car of your dreams.

As well, Fisker has some additional models on their website, the Pear and the Ronin. The Fisker Pear is their more affordable model, starting from £29,900, designed for city living and driving. The Fisker Ronin will be “the world’s first all-electric, four-door convertible, GT sports car,” wow! That’s a claim and a half, we’ll be watching these models closely until their projected release in 2024!
