Reasons NOT to go Electric: Don’t Go Electric JUST for your Salary Sacrifice Scheme!

If you regularly read our blogs, you’ll know how much we love pure electric cars at Fleet Evolution. We were the first supplier to import Nissan Leaf’s from Japan in 2011 and make them available via salary sacrifice. Well over 80% of our orders are now for pure electric! However, employee benefits are meant to be as inclusive as possible. So, with this in mind, let’s look at the reasons not to go electric just for your scheme.

Pure Electric Cars are Amazing!

If you have a drive or garage you have all the infrastructure you need to move to one today! They are also more convenient than any petrol or diesel, and we’re not just saying that. You start every day with a full battery, 200 miles or thereabouts, ready to go before even leaving your home! We also work tirelessly to convert employees who don’t have a drive. We’ll identify local charge points, which they can just use once a week to charge up, that’s all they’ll need! It wouldn’t compromise their lifestyle, but if that’s not for them, we can even put charge points at the workplace.

What Does it Mean?

All of this means it’s our strong belief that 70% of your team can go pure electric today! What about those who do not have reliable charging nearby? Every year things improve but it won’t be until perhaps 2028 that 90% have reliable charging within walking distance. I mean, it takes us decades to develop our broadband infrastructure and I’m still getting 2MB at home!

What about those who need to tow? There are over a million caravans in the UK, that’s a lot of your team who may need to tow. Despite what manufacturers claim, there are no real pure electric solutions for those who need to tow any distance… YET!

Need Convincing?

These are the people who need the “EV lite” as a halfway house. This is to convince themselves that they can manage the new reality of charging and such. Salary sacrifice works best for electric cars. Don’t discount plug-in hybrids, though, you’ll still slash your employees’ pollution and fuel costs around town! Although, they are very polluting once they move to petrol only. It does give a great option for those in apartment blocks, rural cottages, and those who need to tow!

Employee benefits should be inclusive, so don’t forget about the 30%, or they may forget about you!
