Electric Encounters 3: EV Stories
Here at Fleet Evolution, we love doing what our competitors don’t, and first-hand experiences are something we don’t often see from our competitors. It’s all well and good buying an EV that says it does 200 miles on a full charge, but what about the real-world range? In this blog, we’ll go through what it’s actually like to drive an EV; no fake figures and no make-believe. We want you to get a proper feel for what it’s like to live with an electric vehicle.
Jordan’s Experience
I had an awful experience in an MG ZS. I drove around 90 miles to visit a customer and had 120 miles range when I set off. I was 10 miles away from the customer and it very quickly jumped down to zero miles. Somehow, I made it to the customer just fine. However, I then had to find somewhere local to charge from zero miles, so I had to borrow the customer’s charge point!
On the other hand, most of my EV experiences have been positive; a good experience I had, was in Matt’s E-Niro. I started my 120-mile journey with 230 miles, and arrived with 125 miles; I gained miles!
Charlotte’s Experience
A good experience that comes to mind with driving electric was when I went to Silverstone. It was a 150-mile journey, all on the M1; a great drive for my nippy Audi E-Tron. I stopped off for a coffee and breakfast and plugged in. It cost just £4.50 for a top-up, and I got back home with 80 miles spare, what a success!
However, a bad experience I had was when someone was charging hogging; They were holding the chargers for others who hadn’t even arrived yet, even though I was waiting to use them! They clearly don’t know the charge point etiquette…

We know it’s a tough decision working out whether to move to electric motoring. Take it from us, though, half of our staff have already switched to electric and wouldn’t go back!
